They Made It Illegal to Teach Us to Read. That Tells You Everything You Need to Know About the Power of an Educated Black Mind.
Education is not just opportunity. For Black people in America, education has always been resistance. It has always been survival. It has always been the path to the freedom that was denied every other way.
Education
“The most dangerous thing in the world is an educated Black child who knows who they are and whose they are. Let’s raise more of them.”
Every Child Is Somebody’s Destiny
We will not sit in our sanctuaries and preach about the children of Israel while the children of our community are being failed by underfunded schools, under-resourced teachers, and a system that was never designed to develop Black excellence. We take that personally. Because those children are ours.
The African American Pastors Coalition wraps the power of the Black church around the education of our youth — from pre-K to postgrad. We tutor. We mentor. We advocate for equitable funding. We connect our young people to scholarship opportunities and college pathways that their zip codes were never supposed to give them access to. We refuse to write off a single child as unreachable, unteachable, or unworthy.
