Health
Your Body Is the Temple. But the System Has Been Burning It Down.
Black Americans are sicker, die younger, and receive less care — not because of biology, but because of history. The health disparities in our community are not medical mysteries. They are the documented, measurable consequence of racism. And we name it clearly, because you cannot heal what you refuse to diagnose.
Healing Is Part of Our Calling
Every Sunday we pray for healing. Now we are putting our feet to those prayers. The African American Pastors Coalition stands at the intersection of faith and public health — using our platform, our pulpits, our parking lots, and our pews as ground zero for health equity in our community.
We are clear-eyed about what we are dealing with. Black mothers are dying in childbirth at three times the rate of white mothers. Hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease are stealing our fathers and grandfathers. Mental health crises go untreated because the stigma is too strong and the resources are too scarce. We are not going to preach peace and prosperity while our people are perishing from preventable conditions.
The church has always been a place of healing — from Jesus laying hands on the sick to our grandmothers praying through the night. We are extending that legacy into clinics, health fairs, advocacy campaigns, and partnerships with every institution willing to serve our people with dignity.
